Okay, this surpassed my expectations. I have made about 4 dozen waffles (I make 12 at a time) and I could not be more pleased. I read all the reviews before I bought it, so I had some idea of what I was getting and I am very happy with this purchase. The only downside I have found to this waffle maker so far is that the plates cannot be removed for cleaning, but I knew that before I bought it so I didn't take off any stars for that and it's not difficult to clean, it takes me less than two minutes to clean the outside and inside. I have used pancake mix and the Krusteaz Belgian waffle mix as was suggested by several reviews. The waffle mix is the better choice here (like you might expect). I only used the pancake mix as my first attempt and it was still good, but not as fluffy and harder to get out in one piece. These are filling, no one in my house eats more than 2 squares for breakfast and they are just as good frozen and reheated in the toaster, so there is no waste. I have been making the double batch, which uses 3 cups of mix and I get 12 waffles. I put about 1/3 cup in each square, and try to get a little out to the corners or the corner will be soggy (too much makes a little mess). I have the heat turned up almost to the max and it takes 5 minutes for each batch of 4. I have not tried cooking less than 4 squares since I figured this all out. It did take me a few attempts to get the timing and temperature right, but that was just the first day. I was using an IR temperature gun to try and figure out the temperature settings, but just looking at the waffles and using a timer worked out better. The picture below is from my most recent batch, though these are a touch darker than normal because I added cinnamon to the mix. The only other waffle makers I have used are the professional versions that flip over and with a little practice this makes waffles of the same quality. The non-stick is good so far, I have used butter or Pam spray on it for each batch. The instructions were brief, but clear. I was weary of buying a novelty waffle maker, but you don't have to be with this one.
