☕Taste: Citrus, Chocolate and Red Berries
The concept is so cool and I think makes a great convenient option for traveling or camping. For every day life I don’t know if I’m as inclined to use it over my coffee maker. The flavor is rich and warm. I definitely get that slightly sweet chocolate flavor. It’s a delicious brew that I’d be happy to take with me and easily make with a cup and hot water. I didn’t really have issues keeping the bag on the cup but it did start wiggling a bit like it might fall in once I got to the end amount of waterThe process of making a cup of this coffee requires you to first heat up 8 oz of water. Then you need to open and attach the container to the cup of your choosing. I suggest also having an item to help anchor it, though I know most wont have issues, its better to be more secure. Make sure when pouring the water that it has a spout of some type, so you are not spilling water while you are making this cup. You will have to pour then wait several times before your cup is made. And the last section you may have to lift it up so the remainder will drain out.As far as the coffee it is a decent cup, its not the greatest I have ever had, but it will work. I really like everything about Guatemalan coffee. There is no coffee out there like it. The reminder I get of the notes of this coffee is more of the types I have had from hotels when I have traveled in the past.Overall its okordered these for an on the go coffee option. it took a few tries to get the hang of it. unfortunately i realized i did not like the flavor of ethiopian coffee and wouldnt consider ordering again.I ordered this because I love coffee and sometimes travel, so this seemed quick for that. It works well with hot water from my standing dispenser, also with hot water from the Keurig. It sits easily on the cup without dropping in; both sides hold to a 16 oz. cup well. There is plenty of coffee in the bag, and the problem is trying to get the entire bag covered with water while dispensing. I found this hardest with the Keurig; you have to rotate the cup constantly. Also, this version made the cup of coffee weaker. However, this is indeed a very good coffee. It is rich and not too dark, and has a smooth taste. There is enough coffee to make either one very strong cup or two weaker ones. Just be sure to drain properly or you will have coffee all over your counter. The price is very good for the product; and as I stated, this is good for a quick exit from the house, and I would purchase this again. This is delicious and flavorful coffee, and I like the idea of the pour-over brew, but the side holders that suspend the bag in the middle are too flimsy and don't stay put without you holding it, it'd be nice to see this done with a metal wire holder for added strength. The packaging is great and I love it when I'm travelling but especially when I'm camping. This packaging is widely available now so you really have quite a bit of variety available to suit your taste.Overall the coffee was quite good in flavor and aroma. The only issue I had was that I noticed a slight sour taste. While it wasn't very distinct, I did notice it (especially since I drink it black, if you add cream or sugar you probably wouldn't be able to taste it at all) so I took a star away. Otherwise it would have gotten 5 stars.Big coffee fans in our house, but we've never prepared coffee in a pour over brew before. So seeing these were available we decided to give this brew method a try.We quickly discovered there is a trick to pour over brewing. Following the instructions on our fist cups with this method looked more like a cup of really strong tea than they did coffee. It didn't produce a bad cup of coffee but it was very weak and a bit watered down. Stupid me, after I brewed our first cups, I then went and looked up how to do a pour over brew and discovered you need to wet your grounds so they expand and open up for a minute, then finish the pour. So as long as you do it the proper way, you'll get a decent brew. After learning the proper way to do a pour, it produced a cup much more like what we are used to with our automatic drip machine, although I think still weaker than we are used to. That being said we like a stronger coffee. It produces a cup of coffee with a slight bitterness on the back of the tongue, with some citrus notes. I didn't pick up any of chocolate notes they describe it as having. The function of the the apparatus is perfect. The wings/arms fold out easily and the top of the filter tears off without issues to open it up. I was concerned that tearing it may not work so well but the four packets I've opened by tearing the top off has worked without a problem. If you have scissors it would guarantee you don't tear it wrong. They hook on the rim of your mug/cup and the filter doesn't fall down into your mug. They worked on smaller diameter and more wide mouthed mugs/cups, but we don't have any super wide mugs to see how or if they work there. They are great to have on the go as they pretty much let you brew a cup of coffee anywhere you can get some hot water. That being said you a definitely paying for that convenience. At their current price you are paying $1.49 per cup of coffee. Cheap when comparing them to any coffee shop, but much more expensive than brewing at home.
