We had to replace an existing poly feed to a new refrigerator. We inherited and old poly feed when we bought the dwelling. These days, it is recommended you use PEX tubing instead of the softer poly, which can wear over time and leak at connection points. I found this kit while researching possible solutions.It has an inner PEX tubing with a plumbing-grade outer steel braid. The line is essentially what now comes with regular faucet connections. The inline valve assembly is much more robust than the standard petcock type spliced into poly tubing (what we had under the sink). The braided armor provides a comfort level of protection for the inner PEX line, so there should be no worries about leaks. Our run was a couple feet under 20. So this particular kit is the perfect length for direct connect between the under-sink source and the inlet on the refrigerator. There was no need for connector fabrication as this is a factory made assembly. The only issue to be cognizant of is running through cabinetry. Our fridge is at the far right end of L-shaped cabinets and counters. The sink is to the far left. We had to enlarge the holes the original poly line used as those connectors were assembled after the tubing was run. It really wasn't that difficult to accommodate the assembled connectors and we were able to string it through the same path as the original poly line. Installing the T-valve was very easy. All the connection points are standard.The water feed to the fridge works perfectly and has enough slack to allow for rolling the fridge out to clean behind it. It's total PSI rating means we never have to worry an unexpected line break which could flood the house. It 's well worth the cost and effort.
