We bought this ice maker as a replacement for a broken high end kitchen aid ice maker. We were a little wary of buying an ice maker that was on the low end of prices.It was easy to install, but be aware that if you don’t have a drain below the ice maker, you need to purchase a drain pump for it and then potentially buy connections to fit to that. You can find small inexpensive ones out there for under $50. Once I had the drain pump set up, it was smooth sailing.The ice making process is a bit loud when it drops the ice, but that doesn’t bother us as it’s tucked away in our laundry room. It does make ice every few hours or so because the temperature inside continually melts the ice slowly. I think that’s how our kitchen aid worked too, but it was quieter.Also the ice drops down with the blocks still connected. Some of it breaks up when it drops, but usually you have to use the scoop to break them up a bit to scoop the ice out.The scoop itself is big and doesn’t fit very nicely into most glasses.All that being said, for the price, these are all minor details that don’t detract from the reliable ice making that you get, and we are pleased with our purchase.
