This filter works exactly as I'd hoped and shows no sign of rusting after a month of frequent use. It's easily rinsed (do not use soap, or flavor will be ruined!), dries well even in humid weather, and makes a really smooth coffee without the tiny bits of grounds I get from my French press. As a way of making a pitcher quickly, I often use the French press and use this as a second filter into a quart jar, which reduces both the wait time and how often the cloth filter needs to be cleaned between cups. This makes a really affordable and effective stand-alone filter as well, particularly if one only wants a single cup of coffee daily. Love it.
